Editing Civil3d’s Default Color Banding Schemes

The file to edit the color schemes has been added back into Civil3d and is located at C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012\MapThematicRamps.arm
Just open with notepad and edit

  2. Thanks for pointing this file out. I've been looking for a way to creat custom color schemes. I tried modifying the MapThematicRamps.arm file. I copied a scheme, renamed it and changed the colors. However, when I closed and reopened c3d and tried to change the color scheme in a surface style the new schemes I created didn't show up. Any idea why that might be? There was no error message. One of schemes used true colors instead of index colors. Could that be the problem?

I got the same problem the Changes in MatThematicRamps dont show up. Is there any other way or am i just doing it wrong. I tried to edit an existing colorscheme but it just ends upp the way it was from the begining!

My understanding from a couple of years ago this that they broke the linkage to this file in a new version of Civil3d I think 212 on. You could try this tool on the appstore Red transit that copies color schemes from surface to surface and file to file.
